Artist Statement

As a child, I was infatuated with mythological creatures, beasts, phantoms and aliens. Their fantastical prowess portrayed in films, books and computer games captivated me and left a lasting impression on my mind. The worlds in which they dwelt, be it completely imaginary or alternate versions of our planet, filled me with wonder and sent my imagination to dizzying heights.

As an Artist, I indulge in my love of fantasy and science fiction creatures & their settings by painting and portraying them in the same light I saw them in as a youngster. Not as frightening or evil in essence, but much like Frankenstein’s Monster, just misunderstood.

With my work, be it metaphorical and stooped in symbolism or character and narrative driven, I create it with the intention to convey and share my love of these other worldly beings and places, to connect with the viewers and show them an intimate beauty in what is classically seen as ‘ugly’ or ‘abnormal.’
